Summary: Snap Flow Studio is a local-first browser extension. When you ask it to, it takes a screenshot of the page you are viewing and stores that screenshot in your own browser so you can edit and export it. Capturing, stitching, annotation and export all happen on your computer. The extension has no server, no account system and no analytics, and it does not send your screenshots, the pages you visit or any other information to us or to anyone else.
1. Purpose of Snap Flow Studio
Snap Flow Studio is a Google Chrome extension with one purpose: capturing screenshots of web pages and editing them. It captures a full page, the visible area, a selected rectangle or a scrolling region inside a page, opens the result in a built-in editor (the Studio) where you can annotate, crop, blur or redact it, and exports it as PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF, or copies it to the clipboard.
2. What the Extension Handles and Why
The extension does nothing on a page until you start a capture, either from its toolbar button or with a keyboard shortcut. When you do, it handles the following, on the active tab only:
-
The content of the page you capture: Chrome's
chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTabAPI produces an image of what is shown in the tab. For a full page or a scrolling region the extension scrolls the page and takes several images, which it joins into one. A screenshot contains whatever was on the page, which can include personal or sensitive information if the page showed any. - Page layout measurements: a script that the extension adds to the page reads sizes and scroll positions so the images can be aligned, and temporarily hides or pins elements such as sticky headers while the capture runs. The page is put back as it was afterwards.
- The page's address and title: saved with the capture to name it in the Studio, to name exported files, and to fill in the optional URL and date banner if you switch that on.
- Your preferences: the capture settings you choose (scroll delay, sticky-header handling, lazy-load sweep, default export format) and the emojis you used most recently in the editor.
This information is used only to produce, show, edit and export the screenshot you asked for. The extension does not read pages you have not asked it to capture, and it does not record your browsing history.
3. Where Screenshots are Processed and Stored
Snap Flow Studio has no remote cloud backends and no image rendering servers:
-
Local processing: images are joined, edited and exported on an HTML5
<canvas>inside your browser. PDF files are generated on your device as well. -
Local IndexedDB Storage: each capture (its images, the page address and title, and capture details) is saved in an IndexedDB database named
SnapFlowCaptureDBthat belongs to the extension inside your Chrome profile on your computer. This is what lets the Studio open a capture. Web pages cannot read it. -
Local preferences: settings are saved with
chrome.storage.local, and recently used emojis in the extension's own local storage, on the same computer. - No uploads: the extension does not transmit captures, page addresses, settings or any other information over the network. It contains no code that contacts a server.
- No added encryption: the extension does not encrypt its local database itself. Captures are protected in the same way as the rest of your Chrome profile, by your operating system account.
Files you export are saved by Chrome to your downloads folder, and images you copy go to your system clipboard. From then on they are ordinary files and clipboard contents under your control.
4. Zero Telemetry, Analytics, and Tracking
Snap Flow Studio:
- Does NOT include Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, Firebase or any other analytics or advertising software.
- Does NOT use tracking pixels or marketing beacons.
- Does NOT create an account for you or assign you an identifier.
- Does NOT sell or share information with third parties. Nothing leaves your device, so there is nothing to share.
- Does NOT load or run code from the internet. All of its code is inside the installed package.

5. Browser Permissions Justification
Snap Flow Studio requests three permissions, each needed for capturing and editing screenshots:
-
activeTab: gives temporary access to the tab you are viewing, and only after you click the extension's button or press one of its shortcuts. It is what allows the screenshot to be taken. It gives no access to other tabs or to sites you have not used the extension on. -
scripting: lets the extension add its capture script to that tab so it can scroll the page, measure it, and show the area and region selection tools. -
storage: saves your capture settings on your device, and keeps track of a capture that is in progress so it is not lost if Chrome pauses the extension.
Snap Flow Studio does not request access to all websites (<all_urls>), and does not request tabs, webRequest, history, cookies, bookmarks or downloads.
6. Data Retention, Deletion and Uninstallation
- Only your 10 most recent captures are kept. When you make a new capture, anything older than those 10 is deleted from the local database automatically, together with its images.
- Closing the Studio tab does not delete a capture. It stays in the local database until it is no longer one of the 10 most recent, or until you remove the extension as described below.
- Edits are not saved back. The database holds the capture as it was taken. Annotations, crops, blurs and redactions exist in the open Studio tab and in the files you export from it. A redaction therefore removes the hidden pixels from your exported file, but the original capture remains in local storage under the 10-capture rule.
- Undo history is kept in memory in the open Studio tab only. The "Purge History" button clears it, and closing the tab discards it.
- Deleting everything: the extension does not currently have its own delete button. To remove all stored captures and settings, uninstall Snap Flow Studio (open
chrome://extensionsand choose Remove). Chrome deletes the extension's local database and settings when it is removed. You can install it again afterwards. - Exported files are not tracked by the extension. Delete them as you would any other file.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
Snap Flow Studio's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
- Use: page content is used only to provide the screenshot capture and editing you request.
- Transfer: no user data is transferred to us or to any third party.
